Get ready for a hilarious evening filled with spontaneous performances, witty jokes, and unforgettable moments. Whether you’re a fan of improv or just looking for a good time, this event is not to be missed. So grab your friends, bring your sense of humour, and support our talented improvisers.
The McMaster Improv Team has been a staple of McMaster student life for more than two decades. Continuing McMaster’s rich tradition of creating brilliant students who become amazing comedians — Martin Short, Eugene Levy, John Candy, Dave Thomas, and many more — the McMaster Improv Team currently features more than 20 hilarious students from all walks of life.
The team’s senior performers will open the show with a fast-paced set of characters and comedy that branches out from a single suggestion. After the intermission, they will join Kevin Robbins, Thom, and Williams in Munchausen, a show based on real-life stories and events that inspire the performers to create scenes and characters that put human behaviour under a microscope..
Kevin Patrick Robbins, coach for the McMaster Improv Team, returns to the stage at The Staircase, along with Kevin Thom and Kevin Williams for a one-night-only performance to help raise funds for the McMaster Improv Team. Together they are Kevin!
Robbins, Thom, and Williams were three of the leading performers at Toronto’s long-running Impatient Theatre Co., once Canada’s hub of longform improv comedy training and performance. They will perform a hilarious, intertwined improv comedy show spun from a single audience suggestion that informs their characters, scenes, and even the structure of the show itself, all completely improvised live on stage.
Kevin Patrick Robbins was the founder and original artistic director of the Impatient Theatre Co. where he also coached groundbreaking improv teams WDWMKR, Shiva Star, and Big In Japan. NOW Magazine’s Glenn Sumi once hailed Robbins as “one of Toronto’s finest improv talents.”
Kevin Thom is an originating member of the improv superteam Big In Japan and longstanding fixture in ITC’s flagship improv show Munchausen.
Kevin Williams was the artistic director of ITC and performer in flagship shows DHARMA, Congress, and Munchausen.
