Awarded “Pick of the Fringe” at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2023
An autobiographical dramedy that explores how psychological abuse from narcissistic parenting erodes self esteem. The story unfolds through 20 characters and 11 original songs as Luna, the heroine, battles her inner shame that drives her to addiction, bulimia, and dating the wrong men. Will things take a turn for the better when Luna’s Warrioress alter ego shows up, and urges her to fight back and re-write her story?
Too Big for Her Britches is a multiple award-winning show that has toured around the World including Edinburgh, Scotland, Hollywood, Hamilton, Ontario, and Off Broadway on 42nd Street in New York City.
In 2023, Too Big for Her Britches was awarded The Pick of the Fringe Award by Musical Theatre Review. It was one of the twelve total awards given out to over 4,000 shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the largest arts festival in the world for it’s stong story, musical elements, and character work.
This Mother’s Day Weekend Matinee is perfect for daughters with challening maternal relationships as it gives a voice to those without the storybook ending. It’s equally appreciated by those with wonderful mother and daughter relationships as they follow the hero’s journey to finding herself and rewriting the critical voice in their head using humour, music, and powerful storytelling.

“An incredible talent and amazing story of healing. A must see!”

“Sobering and soul bearing with all original music skillfully performed, Lisa Pezik describes her journey from growing up with her mother’s narcissistic personality through healing in a bold and skillful performance. She embodies multiple characters based on her life and experience (along with a couple of fantasy ones that live in her brain). As both a psychotherapist and singer, I especially admire her courage and truth in dealing with her life publicly through theater. Her voice is clear as a bell and all the original songs are quite lovely. This close up and personal show could be equally liberating and healing for anyone dealing with any number of issues from family trauma to bulimia and more. But don’t worry about being bummed out. It is also funny and the ending is momentous and uplifting.”

“Oh my goodness! This was hilarious and so creative. We loved the music and songs. We didn’t know the songs were original to the show until afterwards and that blew our minds! The artist has an incredible singing voice and we felt very moved. Having one actor play so many parts actually worked so well. We were really impressed that she could switch so convincingly between such different parts. At the funny points we felt uncomfortable and guilty for laughing but I think this was a part of the shows charm. We also felt very educated and not overwhelmed by the horror of narcissism. Luna you are so sweet and we just wanted to give you such a big hug. FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS! (Yes I was shouting that! :)”

It really is baffling how the world tries to keep us small. Like that ‘Gopher Game’ in carnivals where you take a mallet and bonk peeking heads of gophers back in their holes. Lisa’s dueling personalities, ‘Warrioress’ and ‘Shame’ are in all of us as we grow and develop to discover who we are. Most of us can relate to the narcissistic parent whom we can never get approval from. Lisa is more than triple threat! Playwright, Acting, Song writer, Singing, AND Dancing? She needs a bigger theatre!
